Ian Balina, CEO of Token Metrics, will no longer be pursued by the SEC for promoting Sparkster tokens in 2018. The SEC plans to recommend dismissing the case due to a change in administration priorities towards crypto. Balina faced allegations of not disclosing a 30% bonus received from Sparkster. The SEC has dropped cases against other crypto companies since Trump took office, including Robinhood Crypto, Gemini, and Uniswap. Ripple Labs still has an open case with the SEC after facing a $125 million judgment in August 2024. Critics suggest the crypto industry influenced the Trump administration by supporting him in the 2024 election. Industry leaders attended a White House crypto summit on March 7, supporting “pro-crypto” candidates.
