American Airlines will offer free Wi-Fi starting in January, sponsored by AT&T for AAdvantage loyalty program members. Inflight Wi-Fi typically costs over $20 but will be complimentary on planes with Intelsat and Viasat satellite Wi-Fi, covering 90% of the fleet by next year. The airline plans to expand high-speed internet to 500 regional planes by the end of next year. Southwest Airlines has not indicated if they will offer free Wi-Fi.
