On the bright side, 228,000 new jobs were created, but the unemployment rate ticked up to 4.2%. The stock market plummeted due to unexpected tariff hikes, with the S&P 500 trading at a high multiple. President Trump aims to use tariffs to rebuild America’s manufacturing base, but eliminating tariffs may not achieve desired goals. Tariffs are taxes, and with the looming recession, active and smart management is crucial for investors.
