Arla Foods expresses interest in Arabian Food Industries’ dairy assets after the Egyptian group announces plans to split into two entities. Arla had previously proposed a bid for a majority stake in Domty, but the offer is now withdrawn. Talks will continue regarding the dairy assets.

Domty, known for its dairy, juices, and bakery products, saw sales increase to E£9.2bn ($180.4m) in 2024 from E£7.5bn the previous year. Net profit after tax also rose to E£501.2m. Arla still aims to enter the Egyptian market and will explore a potential acquisition post-demerger.

Arla and German dairy cooperative DMK Group plan to merge, creating Europe’s largest dairy cooperative with over 12,000 farmers across seven countries. The new entity, to be named Arla, could generate a pro-forma revenue of €19bn ($20.75bn) and will be headquartered in Denmark. Regulatory approval and board backing are pending.
