In Europe, Backpack crypto exchange begins the claims process for former FTX users. Users must create an account, submit KYC info, and connect to their FTX EU claim account. No deadline set, withdrawal fee €5 ($5.39) for claims under €2,000 and 0.25% for amounts above. Backpack acquired FTX EU in January 2025.

FAQ page on Backpack’s website details the first part of the claims process. Positions were closed using market prices at shutdown, settled in euros. Users with pending crypto withdrawals on Nov. 11, 2022, should file claims in FTX’s US bankruptcy proceedings. EU residents who signed up before March 7, 2022, should file with FTX International.

FTX Digital Markets distributed first round of reimbursements to “Convenience Class” members under $50,000. Next round on May 30 includes creditors under Class 5 Customer Entitlement Claims and Class 6 General Unsecured Claims. FTX to use $11.4 billion for payments. FTX EU sale to Backpack caused confusion among customers.
