Bain Capital’s special-situations arm is in talks to invest up to $2bn in insurance broker Acrisure. The investment may consist of preferred equity, though terms are not final. BDT & MSD Partners could redeem part of their stake from a previous $3bn investment in Acrisure. Representatives declined to comment.
Acrisure, a financial-technology company based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, generates over $4.8bn in annual revenue. The company connects businesses and individuals with various insurers. Other investors include the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Guggenheim Investments, and Oak Hill Advisors. Acrisure recently divested five general agencies to Warner Pacific and formed a partnership.
In a separate move, Bain Capital agreed to offload UK-based digital insurer Esure to Ageas for around £1.3bn ($1.7bn). Bain Capital also invested $825m for a 9.9% stake in Lincoln Financial, selling approximately 18.8 million shares at $44 each. The transactions are subject to regulatory approvals.
