Baker Hughes anticipates a $100-200 million impact on annual core profit due to tariffs, citing U.S. trade policy uncertainty and potential trade war consequences. Despite this, the company exceeded Wall Street’s Q1 profit estimates, driven by growing demand for natural gas technology in the face of rising electricity needs for AI data centers. Orders in gas technology surged 17%, boosting IET segment revenue to $2.93 billion. Analysts believe Baker Hughes is well-positioned to weather tariff-related challenges and commodity price fluctuations due to its strong IET backlog. Adjusted profit per share for Q1 was 51 cents, beating analysts’ 48 cents estimate.
