Italian restaurant group Big Mamma is set to open its sixth venue, Barbarella, in Canary Wharf in June 2025. The restaurant will have a 1970s Roman cinema theme, showcasing vintage Ferragamo silks and a mirrored glass bar. The menu will feature dishes like metre-long spaghettone, Cornish lemon sole, and a variety of grilled steaks.

Barbarella will be led by Rome-born Marco Rastelli, offering a daily-changing menu with a dedicated gelato section. The restaurant’s design includes a reflective 70s chromed lounge upstairs. Big Mamma’s expansion follows the successful launch of La Bellezza in Birmingham in November 2024. The group manages five other London restaurants, known for being fully booked in advance.

Established in 2013, Big Mamma focuses on authentic Italian trattoria experience, sourcing produce directly from small Italian producers. In September 2023, McWin Capital Partners acquired a majority stake in the group, aiming to strengthen its position in the European dining industry. The acquisition aligns with McWin Capital’s strategic goals in the dining sector.
