BJ’s Wholesale Club Holdings owns and operates BJ’s Wholesale Club, offering a wider range of items and smaller pack sizes than competitors like Costco and Sam’s Club. The company posted $20 billion in revenue in FY25, with membership fees accounting for 2.2% of total revenue and 59% of operating income.

As of the end of FY25, BJ’s operated 250 clubs and 186 gas stations in 21 states, with over half of the clubs located in New York, Florida, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. The company sells approximately 7,000 SKUs, with plans to trim inventory to about 6,000 to improve turnover.

Groceries make up 71% of BJ’s FY25 net sales, while general merchandise and services account for 11%. Gasoline sales have risen significantly in recent years, representing 21% of sales in FY25 compared to 9% in FY21. Gas was 19% of sales in FY24 and 18% in FY25.

BJ’s Wholesale Club was acquired by an investor group in 2011, ending its tenure as a public company. Based in Westborough, Massachusetts, the company offers specialty services like tire installation, optical services, and photo developing to its members, who are small business owners and consumers.
