Bonduelle inks licensing deal with Taylor Farms in sale of German packaged salads unit

Bonduelle has sold its packaged salads business in Germany to Taylor Farms as part of a transformation plan to improve profitability. The sale was completed on March 31 for an undisclosed amount. The move is seen as a step towards enhancing the group’s operating profitability under the Transform to Win program. The packaged salads business in Germany was described as losing money with sales of €60m ($64.8m).
CEO Xavier Unkovic has made progress in returning Bonduelle to profitability, with net income from continuing operations increasing to €17.2m. However, on a consolidated basis, the company reported a loss of €5m. Sales revenue in the first half of the fiscal year dropped 1.5% to €1.12bn. The three-year Transform to Win project aims to accelerate the company’s performance and align it with ambitious strategic planning.
Bonduelle will continue to market canned and frozen vegetables in Germany following the sale of its packaged salads business. The company has entered a licensing agreement with Taylor Farms for packaged salads. The sale of the assets in Germany is part of Bonduelle’s efforts to improve operating profitability. The company is focused on creating conditions for a rebound in its performance and aligning its organization with shared objectives.
