Warren Buffett increases stake in Occidental Petroleum Co. (NYSE: OXY) as shares fall 30% off highs, now owning 28.2% of the company. The oil and energy sector is recovering, with Occidental being a long-term high margin, cash-generating oil play. Buffett praises CEO Vicki Hollub for solid strategic moves and environmental initiatives like carbon capture technology.

Occidental’s carbon capture business, led by CEO Vicki Hollub, sees the construction of its first DAC plant, Stratos, set to launch in 2025. Deals with Microsoft Co. (NASDAQ: MSFT), Airbus SE (OTCMKTS: EADSY), and Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) are in place, generating over a billion dollars in locked-in CDR contracts. Plans are in place to open 100 more DAC plants in the next decade.
