China has stopped taking deliveries of Boeing Co. jets amid the ongoing trade war with the U.S., prompting the company to redirect some planes to other customers. Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg confirmed that a few 737 Max planes intended for China have been flown back to the U.S.

Boeing reported a narrower-than-expected loss for the first quarter, with improved cash burn as airplane deliveries surged. Ortberg reassured that despite the trade war, there is high demand for the Max aircraft and the company will not let this situation hinder its recovery.

President Donald Trump imposed high tariffs on Chinese imports, escalating the trade war. However, Trump expressed openness to reducing tariffs and adopting a less confrontational approach in trade talks with China. He acknowledged that the current 145% tariff on Chinese goods is excessive and stated that it will be reduced substantially.
