Chipotle to expand in Mexico amid Trump tariffs

Chipotle Mexican Grill is set to open its first location in Mexico in early 2026 as part of its international expansion plans. The company has signed a development agreement with Alsea, which operates Starbucks, Domino’s Pizza, and Burger King in Latin America and Europe. President Donald Trump’s trade war with Mexico has impacted the avocado supply chain, with Chipotle still importing about half of its avocados from Mexico. Chipotle has been expanding internationally in recent years, with locations in Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. The company is optimistic about winning over Mexican consumers with its fresh ingredients, despite previous failed attempts by Taco Bell to enter the market.
