Brokerage customers of Citi’s Russian subsidiary are receiving coupon payments on frozen securities due to Western sanctions on Russia’s NSD. Over $300 billion of Russia’s assets were frozen. Citibank clients are now receiving payments considered frozen. The volume of released funds is unclear. Delcredere law firm received permits to withdraw blocked money from Citi clients in Russia. Citi’s unique position allows for this movement of funds.
