CTA Construction starts work on Fort River Elementary School in Massachusetts

CTA Construction Managers has begun construction on the new Fort River Elementary School in Amherst, Massachusetts. The 105,750ft² building will replace Fort River and Wildwood schools, accommodating 575 students from preschool to fifth grade. The design by DiNisco Design includes solar panels and a geothermal system to achieve net-zero energy.

The new school is part of Amherst’s sustainability commitment, generating 100% of its energy on-site. CTA Construction Managers won the bid at $73.48m, contributing to total project savings of $4.8m. The school is expected to open in fall 2026, with demolition and site work to finish by mid-2027.

CTA Construction Managers specializes in municipal, academic, multifamily residential, and commercial projects, with a portfolio exceeding $1.7bn.
