D.R. Horton (NYSE:DHI) shares rose 3% despite missing Q2 earnings estimates. Earnings were $2.58 per share, below the expected $2.67. Revenue was $7.7 billion, beating expectations but down 15% from last year’s $9.1 billion.
Sales slowed due to buyer hesitation from affordability issues and softening consumer sentiment. Net sales orders fell 15% to 22,437 homes worth $8.4 billion. Closings dropped 15% to 19,276 units in the quarter.
Full-year revenue guidance was lowered to $33.3 billion to $34.8 billion, below the $36.14 billion consensus. Housing market challenges persist with higher borrowing costs impacting demand.
