Meta fired back at the EU’s $228 million fine, calling it unfair and harmful to American businesses. The EU said Meta breached a requirement under the Digital Markets Act. Apple was also fined $571 million for a similar violation. Both companies plan to appeal. EU regulators named six Big Tech companies as “gatekeepers” under antitrust laws.
