The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has suspended Colonial Pipeline’s proposal to overhaul gasoline shipments for seven months to hear additional arguments from the company and shippers. Colonial wants to end overlapping shipments of different gasoline grades and modify delivery specifications. FERC found the changes may be discriminatory and suspended the proposal until November 4, giving both parties 30 days to submit comments. Oil majors like Exxon Mobil and Chevron have protested, claiming harm to shippers and consumers. Colonial argues the changes will increase capacity and benefit consumers, denying the protests. FERC did allow changes to niche gasoline grades in the Midwest.
