Gasoline prices are expected to drop as oil prices fall due to the US-China trade war. The national average is $3.21 per gallon, $0.42 lower than last year. Oil prices are near $60 per barrel, down $10 since April due to tariffs and OPEC output. Gas prices could fall below $3 per gallon.

Declining gasoline prices have helped cool inflation in March. The Consumer Price Index shows a 9.8% annualized drop in the gasoline index, contributing to a 3.3% decline in the energy index. Lower gas prices compared to last year are benefiting consumers.
