The S&P 500 saw a 5.7% rise, led by a 9.7% gain in the information-technology sector. Gold prices also surged 7.2%. The 11 S&P sectors were ranked based on their performance, with tech leading the pack. Nine tech companies were among the top 20 stock gainers for the week, despite most being down for the year.

Newmont Corp. and Applied Materials were the top gainers in the S&P 500, up 24.4% and 14.2% respectively. However, most of the top 20 stocks were still down for the year, including Nvidia, with a 17.4% decline in 2025. Overall, the stock market had a positive week, with sectors like information technology leading the gains.
