XRP, known for fast, low-cost cross-border payments, has seen a significant rise in daily transfer volume. Data from Glassnode shows the network settling between $300M to $1B daily. Since Trump’s reelection, the average has spiked to $2.28B, possibly fueled by XRP’s price surge.
Large XRP transfers are often linked to Ripple and Chris Larsen’s token sales. Larsen recently moved 50M XRP worth $29.12M, reducing his holdings. Ripple’s escrow sales since 2017 have varied, with substantial sales during bullish periods and reduced sales during downturns.
Bitcoin and Ethereum continue to outperform XRP in daily transfer volume. Bitcoin’s average is $23.26B, while Ethereum’s is $2.53B. Both networks settle significantly higher amounts daily, indicating broader adoption and trust compared to XRP.
Transfer volume reflects real usage on blockchains. Bitcoin and Ethereum show consistent high usage from various sectors. XRP, on the other hand, sees spikes tied to trading cycles, indicating limited enterprise adoption despite efforts to promote cross-border settlements.
While XRPL has introduced new features like stablecoin issuance and AMM volume growth, XRP’s usage still lags behind Bitcoin and Ethereum. These innovations have yet to generate the same level of volume and adoption as the leading cryptocurrencies.
