Kpler has finalized the purchase of Spire Maritime for $241m, a deal that includes a $233.5m purchase price and a $7.5m service agreement for one year. The acquisition aims to enhance Kpler’s maritime coverage and provide insights into global vessel movements. Regulatory bodies, including the UK CMA, are currently reviewing the deal. Kpler CEO Mark Cunningham expressed excitement about the acquisition, stating it will unlock greater value for customers by offering comprehensive insights into global trade flows. Kpler, established in 2014, specializes in real-time insights for trade using proprietary data and AI, serving sectors like energy and shipping. In February 2023, Kpler acquired MarineTraffic and FleetMon, further expanding its capabilities in ship-tracking and maritime analytics.
