Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has teamed up with Mastercard to introduce crypto debit cards in the UK and Europe. The partnership will allow Kraken to offer physical crypto debit cards as they seek a license under the EU’s regulatory framework. Users can spend cryptocurrencies and stablecoins directly, with the rollout starting in the coming weeks.
The collaboration with Mastercard builds on Kraken Pay’s success, a tool launched in January 2025 that allows users to send over 300 crypto assets globally. The service has attracted over 200,000 customers out of Kraken’s 15 million user base, with features like paylink for easy payments through a URL.
Kraken co-CEO David Ripley believes crypto is revolutionizing the payments industry, envisioning a future where global commerce is supported by crypto. The partnership with Mastercard aims to make real-world purchases with crypto and stablecoins seamless, unlocking crypto’s everyday utility for long-term relevance and usability.
