Monness, Crespi, Hardt downgraded Fiserv (NYSE:FI) from Neutral to Sell, setting a $145 price target. Concerns over meeting ambitious growth targets for 2026–2027, especially in Clover merchant platform, drove the decision. Weakness in SMB index and challenges in restaurant and retail segments could hinder growth without pricing concessions.

Despite Fiserv’s strong balance sheet and cash flow, Monness doubts these can offset declining transaction trends and limited VAS penetration. The firm believes stock price reflects overly optimistic assumptions about Clover’s future, including international expansion and product cross-sell opportunities. Risk of revising bullish guidance has led to a more cautious outlook on the stock.
