The Washington Commanders are returning to Washington, D.C. with a new $3.7 billion stadium at the site of the former RFK Stadium. The Commanders will invest $2.7 billion, while the city will contribute $500 million. The new stadium is expected to open in 2030, offering 65,000 seats and creating 2,000 permanent jobs.
The stadium will be part of a larger redevelopment project including housing, restaurants, parkland, and retail. The Commanders moved from RFK Stadium to Landover in 1997. The new stadium is expected to generate $4 billion in tax revenue and $15.6 billion in direct spending over 30 years, with the team worth $6.25 billion.
