NFT project plans crowdfund purchase of Cold War nuclear bunker

From Cointelegraph. April 20, 2025 11:01:00 pm:

A doomsday-themed Solana NFT project aims to sell 100,000 NFTs to purchase a Cold War-era nuclear bunker in Rutland, England. Dead Bruv plans to mint 100,000 NFTs with Meatbags holders receiving 10,000 tokens. The remaining NFTs will be sold starting at $14 each. Holders will gain entry into a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) called the Billionaire Bunker Club.

The NFT project envisions various uses for the bunker, including a survival resort, festival location, or luxury Airbnb. UK auctioneer SDL Property Auctions has listed the bunker for £650,000 ($862,257) with an auction date set for April 24. The bunker was built in 1960 during the Cold War and later decommissioned in 1968.

Robert, co-founder of Dead Bruv, stated the initiative aims to make NFTs fun and push creative boundaries. He highlighted the project’s unique and absurd nature, emphasizing the importance of taking risks and exploring new possibilities. This unconventional approach stems from a desire to innovate within the NFT space and create something extraordinary.

ConstitutionDAO’s failed attempt to crowdfund the purchase of the US Constitution for $47 million in Ether in 2021 serves as a precedent for unconventional DAO initiatives. LinksDAO successfully acquired Spey Bay Golf Club and Hillcrest Country Club, showcasing the potential for DAOs to engage in real estate acquisitions. Such endeavors demonstrate the growing influence and capabilities of decentralized autonomous organizations.
