Apparel stocks bounce back after Trump hints at possible tariff relief with Vietnam
From StockTwits: 2025-04-07 00:20:00
President Trump had a “very productive call” with Vietnamese leader To Lam, who expressed interest in cutting tariffs to zero. This led to a jump in shares of U.S. apparel firms like Gap, Inc., Deckers Outdoor Corp., American Eagle Outfitters, Nike, Inc., and Lululemon Athletica Inc. Last week, Trump announced a 46% tariff on Vietnam, causing a drop in American company stocks. The tariffs take effect on April 9 and may result in increased consumer prices. Vietnam’s imports to the U.S. reached $136.6 billion in 2024. Stocktwits users are bullish on Nike, Deckers, and American Eagle, while neutral on Gap and Lululemon. Nike shares are down 24.3% year to date.
