Fraudulent tech workers with ties to North Korea are expanding their infiltration operations to blockchain firms outside the US after increased scrutiny, including in UK crypto projects, Google reports. The workers are infiltrating projects spanning web development and advanced blockchain applications, such as Solana and Anchor smart contract development. North Korea is looking to Europe for tech jobs, with workers using multiple personas and seeking employment in Germany and Portugal. The US has indicted two North Korean nationals for fraudulent IT work schemes involving at least 64 US companies, while the Treasury Department sanctioned companies linked to North Korea for generating revenue through remote IT work schemes. North Korean hackers have been targeting crypto founders, with reports of attempts to steal sensitive data through fake Zoom calls. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT claimed to have uncovered a network of North Korean developers earning $500,000 a month for established crypto projects.
