SK Hynix beats Q1 revenue and profit estimates, expects growth in demand for AI products.

SK Hynix exceeded revenue and operating profit estimates in Q1, reporting 17.64 trillion won ($12.36 billion) in revenue and 7.44 trillion won in operating profit. Revenue rose 42% year on year, while operating profit surged 158%. The company warned of demand uncertainty due to U.S. tariff policy.
SK Hynix credited its Q1 profits to AI’s impact in the memory market. The company expects limited impact from tariffs on AI server demand, while consumer electronics demand is expected to rise with the launch of new products featuring AI functionalities. SK Hynix foresees HBM revenue doubling by 2025.
A report from Counterpoint Research revealed that SK Hynix captured 70% of the HBM market share in Q1, surpassing Samsung in the overall DRAM market for the first time. SK Hynix plans to build a new fabrication facility in Cheongju, South Korea, to expand its next-generation DRAM production, including HBM.
