Poll indicates business leaders support rapid transition to renewable power

A global poll of 1,477 business executives shows overwhelming support for transitioning to renewable energy sources, with 97% in favor. 78% are pushing for the shift to happen within the next decade, and 87% want coal-fired electricity eliminated by then. Big businesses see renewables as key to energy security and competitiveness.

Executives are planning to move away from fossil fuels within the next ten years, with 38% expecting most of their electricity to come from renewables in five years. 52% are willing to relocate operations, and 49% would move supply chains if governments fail to hit renewable energy goals.

Business leaders are highlighting the importance of energy security, with 55% citing it as a primary benefit of adopting renewables. 90% prioritize access to renewable energy when deciding where to invest, and 93% are considering on-site renewable energy solutions for their operations.

Challenges identified by executives include insufficient infrastructure to store and distribute renewable electricity, lack of renewable energy sources, unclear energy policies, and the need for incentives, education, and reskilling programs for workers in transitioning industries. Businesses are calling on governments to remove barriers hindering the transition.
