Ransomware attack on vendor exposes DBS, BOC Singapore customer data

A ransomware attack on Toppan Next Tech exposed personal data of 11,200 DBS Bank and Bank of China Singapore customers. DBS stated 8,200 customers were affected, mainly from DBS Vickers and Cashline. BOC reported 3,000 customers impacted by the breach. Both banks assure internal systems and deposits are secure.

TNT suggests compromised documents were sent to individual customers between December 2024 to February 2025. Information at risk includes names, addresses, and equities details, but not sensitive data like login credentials. DBS halted printing with Toppan and increased surveillance. BOC confirmed breached data includes names, addresses, and some loan account numbers.

Toppan reported the attack to authorities promptly. CSA and MAS are assisting in investigations and risk reduction. Enhanced monitoring of affected accounts and customer outreach initiated by banks. Toppan cut off the attacker’s entry point and is investigating with a forensic firm.
