Risky Sectors Are Underperforming Ahead of Big Tech Earnings

Wall Street saw a downturn as investors turned cautious due to uncertain economic data. The S&P 500 dropped by 0.9%, with only 140 stocks in the index seeing gains. Consumer staples and health care were the only sectors showing strength, while consumer discretionary stocks lagged behind.

The Dow Jones fell by 220 points, or 0.5%, with telecoms and healthcare stocks performing better than others. In contrast, the Nasdaq Composite, which is heavy on tech stocks, saw a larger decline of 1.3%.
