The US SEC will not refile securities fraud complaint against Hex founder Richard Schueler, known as Richard Heart. The court dismissed the original complaint in February for lack of jurisdiction over Heart’s activities. Heart claims victory over the SEC, saying it’s a win for open-source software and cryptocurrency. The SEC sued Heart in 2023 for unregistered securities offerings, claiming he made over $1 billion. Heart tried to have the suit dismissed, citing lack of US residency. The SEC opposed this, claiming he promoted tokens at a Las Vegas event. Interpol issued a Red Notice for Heart in Finland for suspected tax evasion. The native token HEX hit an all-time high in December 2024 but has since dropped 76%. The SEC has dropped or suspended several cases against crypto firms under the Trump administration.
