Indian shares open lower as tensions rise due to Trump's new tariffs on Chinese imports

Indian shares opened slightly lower on Wednesday as tensions between China and the United States escalated with a 104 percent tariff on Chinese imports. President Trump’s reciprocal tariffs on all countries are also set to take effect today. The S&P/BSE Sensex was down 0.5 percent, while the NSE Nifty index dropped 0.7 percent. Technology stocks like TCS and Infosys fell 2-4 percent, while Power Grid Corp saw a 3 percent gain. Other stocks like Asian Paints and Nestle India were up around 1 percent amidst the market turmoil.
