Tesla Inc has launched sales operations in Saudi Arabia, competing with Lucid and BYD in a market dominated by petrol-driven SUVs. The US automaker has outlets in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, aiming to replicate success in the UAE. Global sales fell by 13% in Q1 2025, with a 9% drop in US sales. Tesla plans to build charging stations in the three cities but faces challenges on desert highways. Saudi economist Al-Qahtani welcomes Tesla’s entry but calls for more investment, including a factory. Tesla aims for a long-term presence in the Kingdom, with country manager Naseem Akbarzada leading the way.
