From CNBC: 2025-04-02 09:45:00

Tesla reported 336,000 vehicle deliveries in Q1 2025, a 13% decline from a year ago. Shares fell 4%, wrapping up their worst quarter since 2022. Production was at 362,615 vehicles. Analysts expected 360,000-370,000 deliveries, with Wedbush Securities calling the results a “disaster on every metric.”

Tesla produced 345,454 Model 3 and Model Y cars, delivering 323,800 of them in Q1. The company also reported 12,881 deliveries of other models, including the Cybertruck. Planned factory shutdowns allowed upgrades for the redesigned Model Y SUV. CEO Elon Musk expects the Model Y to be the best-selling car this year.

In the first quarter, Tesla faced protests, boycotts, and criminal activity due to Musk’s political rhetoric and involvement in the Trump administration. Musk leads the Department of Government Efficiency, cutting costs and jobs. In Europe, Tesla’s market share dropped to 9.3% from 17.9%. Sales of Chinese-made EVs fell 11.5% due to rising competition.

Tesla shares plummeted 36% in Q1 2025, the steepest drop since 2022, wiping out $460 billion in market cap. This marks the third-biggest decline in the company’s 15 years on the public market. Gene Munster predicts Tesla’s growth will accelerate by 35% in 2026.
