Toyota plans to have 15 electric vehicle models by 2027, aiming to produce 1 million cars annually. The company currently has five EV models, with plans to expand production to the US, Thailand, and Argentina to mitigate risks and reduce delivery times. Some models will be under the Lexus luxury brand. Toyota previously aimed to sell 1.5 million EVs per year by 2026 and 3.5 million by 2030, but now expects to produce 800,000 units in 2026. In 2024, Toyota sold nearly 140,000 EVs globally, accounting for less than 2% of total global sales.
