Toyota Motor and Alphabet’s Waymo are exploring collaboration on a new autonomous vehicle platform to enhance personally owned vehicles. Toyota will build the platform for Waymo’s AV fleet and potentially integrate Waymo’s technology into Toyota’s POVs. The partnership aims to accelerate driver assistance and automated driving technologies. Waymo continues partnerships with Hyundai and Zeekr, with plans for self-driving taxis in the future. Waymo is collecting data in Tokyo, while Toyota’s Woven City is developing a software platform and testing site in Shizuoka Prefecture.
