U.S. Stocks Set to Enter Bear Market as Trump Tariffs Spark Panic

U.S. stock futures tumbled on Monday due to concerns over a global recession from President Trump’s tariff plan. Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq 100 futures were all down around 2.2-2.3%. The S&P 500 was on track to enter a bear market, defined as a 20% drop from its recent peak on Feb. 19.

Investors are facing high volatility with the recent rapid decline in the market. Chief financial analyst at Bankrate, Greg McBride, noted that while investors have seen bear markets before, the speed of the decline since Thursday is causing heightened unease and uncertainty.
