The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is seeking feedback from firms on a new live AI testing service launching in September 2025. This initiative aims to help companies deploy AI safely, benefiting consumers and the financial markets. The service will address testing gaps hindering AI adoption in the sector and provide regulatory guidance.

Firms will work with the FCA to verify their AI tools for use, gaining insights into AI’s impact on UK financial markets. The 12 to 18-month testing initiative aligns with the FCA’s strategy to promote innovation and competitiveness in the financial services industry. The regulator aims to integrate data and technology to become a more efficient watchdog.

FCA’s Chief Data, Intelligence, and Information Officer Jessica Rusu stated the new strategy supports growth by being tech-positive. The FCA aims to create a safe testing space for financial firms and customers to benefit from AI advancements. Responses to the Engagement Paper for the proposal are accepted until June 10, 2025.
