UnitedHealth Group appoints insider Patrick Conway as the new head of Optum, its health services segment, replacing Heather Cianfrocco, who will move to a new role within the conglomerate. Conway, currently CEO of Optum Rx, joined in February 2020 and has experience in senior leadership roles. The Optum health services arm offers various healthcare solutions. Cianfrocco will become executive vice president of governance, compliance, and information security. Both appointments are effective May 6. UnitedHealth recently reported a profit miss and lowered its annual outlook due to higher medical costs and challenges in its Optum unit.
