VW Group pitches comeback in China with new models, in-house assisted driving

Volkswagen Group unveiled five new models designed for China and a new in-house assisted driving system in Shanghai as part of its push to regain market share in China’s competitive auto market. Plans include exporting VW cars from China to other Asian markets, South America, and the Middle East. The company aims to reduce costs for entry-level vehicles by 40% with a new China-specific platform. Despite losing its top spot in China, Volkswagen is fighting back with new Audi models and an in-house automated driving system. The company plans to export VW models from China to various regions, including Asian markets, South America, and the Middle East. Volkswagen is also developing new vehicle platforms in China for both battery-electric cars and EVs with range extenders to adapt to changing market demands. Brandstaetter emphasized the importance of assisted driving capabilities, cost management, and drivetrain flexibility for success in China.
