The UK’s Government Property Agency (GPA) has chosen Wates as the contractor for the Category B fit-out of the new government office at Manchester’s First Street. The nine-storey building is in its final stage of construction, with the fit-out focused on making it functional for office use. The project, part of GPA’s Government Hubs Programme, will accommodate around 2,600 civil servants from various departments. The £105m project, supported by Pension Insurance Corporation, aims to modernize government workspaces and promote growth. The hub, located near rail stations, is designed to meet inclusive and accessible standards, supporting diverse working styles and fostering collaboration among civil servants. Wates Smartspace managing director Scott Camp expressed delight in continuing the partnership with GPA, highlighting their expertise in delivering high-quality, modern office environments.
