The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) and the Adecco Group have joined forces to tackle skill demands in the automotive industry amidst green and digital transformations. The initiative begins with an EU Automotive Skills Gap Analysis, set to be completed by mid-2025, evaluating current and future skill needs and proposing tailored solutions.
After the analysis, regional forums will be established to develop customized workforce reform strategies. A detailed Automotive Skills Implementation Blueprint will be devised as a roadmap for regional workforce development, fostering collaboration among stakeholders and educational institutions. This initiative is timely due to demographic and technological shifts in Europe’s automotive sector.
Aligned with the EU’s Automotive Action Plan, the project aims to prepare the evolving workforce for success in a competitive global market. ACEA and Adecco seek to equip the European automotive workforce, comprising 13 million individuals, with the skills necessary to maintain a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving market.
In a separate move, ACEA and Eurelectric have jointly called for urgent reform and investment in Europe’s electricity grids to support heavy-duty vehicle charging infrastructure. This aligns with the EU’s goal to increase zero-emission trucks and buses by 2030 to reduce carbon emissions in the transport sector.
