Positive: Akero Therapeutics presents positive results from Phase 2b SYMMETRY trial

Akero Therapeutics presented Phase 2b SYMMETRY trial results at the EASL Congress 2025, showing EFX’s potential to improve fibrosis in compensated cirrhosis due to MASH. Patients treated with EFX 50mg experienced significant fibrosis improvement compared to placebo. The study also demonstrated EFX’s anti-fibrotic activity and safety profile. EFX is being evaluated in Phase 3 SYNCHRONY program. Longer treatment with EFX showed a doubling of the placebo-adjusted treatment effect, indicating its efficacy in patients with compensated cirrhosis. EFX also improved noninvasive measures of liver fibrosis and injury, offering hope for MASH patients.
