AMC Entertainment posts lower revenue over decrease in theater attendance

AMC Entertainment reported a 9.3% drop in first-quarter revenue due to fewer blockbuster releases and reduced attendance at movie theaters. The company’s shares fell around 2% in extended trading. Revenue for the quarter was $862.5 million compared to $951.4 million a year ago, with attendance in theaters falling 10% to 42 million. CEO Adam Aron noted that industry box office in 2025 was the lowest since 1996. However, the demand for movie theaters is recovering since April 1, with the second quarter seeing releases of films like “Sinners” and “Thunderbolts”.
