The central bank denies a deal to weaken the greenback, but the rally suggests a big unwinding of long dollar positions in Taiwan. Speculation continues as the Taiwan dollar hit a two-year high at 30.145 to the dollar. The surge began in April after Trump’s tariffs and has since fed on itself with exporters and insurers converting and hedging currency. The central bank assures stability amidst the rapid rise, but analysts see longer-term forces at play and potential dollar weakness in Asia.
