Renewable energy storage provider Apatura has received approval for a new 100MW battery energy storage system near Kilwinning, Scotland. The project will support the nation’s transition to renewable power sources and contribute to energy resilience. The BESS will occupy eight acres of land and create direct and indirect job opportunities. The approval marks Apatura’s tenth successful BESS planning consent, expanding its total consented portfolio to over 1.6GW. The project aligns with Scotland’s goal of sourcing 50% of energy consumption from renewables and achieving a net-zero energy system by 2045.
