Apple has filed an appeal against a U.S. judge’s ruling to open the App Store to more competition. The ruling found Apple in contempt of an antitrust lawsuit brought by Epic Games, with Judge Gonzalez Rogers accusing Apple of willfully defying court orders. Apple denies violating the court’s order.

Judge Gonzalez Rogers ordered Apple to end practices designed to circumvent her injunction, including a new 27% fee on app developers and “scare screens” to deter third-party payment options. Apple plans to appeal the ruling to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, challenging the decision to open the App Store to more competition. Apple and Epic Games did not immediately comment on the appeal.
