AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) is set to acquire Lumen Technologies’ (NYSE: LUMN) consumer fiber business for $5.75 billion in cash, expanding its national fiber footprint. The deal is expected to close in H1 2026 pending regulatory approval. This move will add around 1 million fiber customers to AT&T’s base and align with its goal to reach 60 million total fiber locations by 2030. Lumen will use the cash proceeds to reduce debt by $4.8 billion and cut interest expenses by over $300 million annually, focusing on its enterprise fiber business.
